Thursday Weisblog: All I am saying is give change a chance

Many people, myself included, are not big fans of change. I believe there are three reasons for that:

(1) Change brings uncertainty

(2) Change upsets the flow of your normal routine

(3) There are often no immediate benefits to change

Think about all the ways our world has changed just in the last 10-15 years. When was the last time you reached for a phone book? Can you even remember the last time you used a phone booth (other than maybe at an airport)? How do you get your information today versus a decade ago?

The world is in a constant state of flux, and it always will be. Do yourself a big favor and fight the resistance to change. In fact, learn to embrace it!

I’ll leave you with a great quote from General Eric Shineski of the United States Army that perfectly sums up today’s message: “If you don’t like change, you’re going to like irrelevance even less.”

  1. I don’t like change either.

  2. One of the first things I learned in my Elementary Education classes at UCF was…
You have to be flexible. If you can’t stand change, you’ve picked the wrong profession.
My motto is if you do what you’ve always done,
you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.
Change is both hard and exhilarating at the same time.
