While many of us look forward to the holiday season, there is a flip side to it all that comes with it: I call it Holiday Stress Syndrome, or HSS.
With that in mind, here are some helpful ways to reduce HSS this year:
∙ Make a list and check it (at least) twice: This will help you stay organized and keep you on track.
∙ Prioritize: Rank the items on your list in terms of importance.
∙ Don’t procrastinate: Chip away at the items on the aforementioned list in workmanlike fashion.
∙ Don’t overspend: If you do, you’ll end up with a case of the dreaded post-holiday blues (PHB).
∙ Make time for yourself: Go to a movie, take a nap or do whatever else you can to ease your burden.
∙ Shop online wherever you can: This helps you avoid the long lines – but be sure to only use Websites you know are legitimate and trustworthy.
∙ Keep your holiday expectations reasonable: At some point, something will go wrong. Roll with it and don’t let it get you down.
∙ Remember the real reason for the season: Enough said.
If you have any other suggestions, please leave them in the comment box for all of us! See you tomorrow.
