Wednesday Weisblog: Justin time for a DUI

Do you remember how, when you were growing up, your parents told you honesty was the best policy? Perhaps Vero Beach, Florida’s Justin Lee Williams’ parents forgot to tell him there are a few select times when you should make an exception. Yes, in case you don’t know it, there are a times when you should not be forthcoming with information.

generic-beer1Like when you’re driving drunk and get caught doing an illegal u-turn into a 7-11 convenience store at 12:55 am.

This is exactly the conundrum Mr. Williams found himself in recently.

When the officer asked Williams, 24, why he made the illegal turn, he replied: “I’m in a hurry! There is only five more minutes to buy beer!”

Trouble is, the officer determined that Williams had already been partaking in the consumption of alcoholic beverages earlier in the evening. Three subsequent Breathalyzer tests proved it, and now Mr. Williams is in trouble.

Already convicted of driving under the influence in 2006, Williams was booked into the Indian River County Jail on a new DUI charge. He posted bond and was released.

His mom must be sooooooo proud. I know that I, for one, have never been more proud to be a Floridian than at this very moment.
