Monday Weisblog: “Woody” really think this would fly in court?

Woody Harrelson

Woody Harrelson

We all know actor Woody Harrelson. He became famous as the lovable, naive bartender on the hit 1980s show Cheers. Since then, he’s gone on to critical acclaim in a wide range of movies, showing an edgier side in many of them.

It appears that the “edgy” side has come out in real life, too!

Last Wednesday night at the La Guardia airport, a TMZ photographer began snapping photos of him. (As you may know, TMZ is, well … I’ll be kind. It’s an “entertainment news gathering company;” how about that?) At any rate, Harrelson did not take kindly to what the photographer was doing.

Predictably, an altercation ensued and the photographer (whose name has not yet been released) has filed charges against Harrelson – who does not deny the altercation took place. Actually, he can’t. It’s on film.

But here’s the good part: When asked to explain his actions, Woody said, “I wrapped a movie called Zombieland in which I was constantly under assault by zombies, then flew to New York still very much in character … With my daughter at the airport I was startled by a paparazzo, who I quite understandably mistook for a zombie.”

Um, yeah. Quite understandably, indeed! I understand the photographer was a jerk who was asking for it, but still …

Click on the link below to see the video footage. You’ll see Woody in action, and also get to see what a real drama king this photographer is, too!

Nice job, Woody – way to go berserk on a photographer in front of your daughter.
